Potential positives of the surge

The greatest danger to world peace today and one of the worst rogue states is the US. Only extensive US casualties and failure of their mission in Iraq will cause them to think twice about again using illegal pre-emptive wars as a tool of their policy to dominate the world as much as they can. The troop surge is most likely to fail and it will certainly increase US casualties. Of course it will vastly increase Iraqi casualties as well but the US does not even count them. In terms of possibly restraining US future policy the surge is positive (Also posted to CBC discussion.)
