Philippines: August Inflation hits 17 year high.

This is bad news for the many Filippinos who are on fixed low incomes. It will become more difficult to make ends meet and put sufficient food on the table.


Philippines August inflation hits 17-year high(09-05 10:13)Inflation in the Philippines surged to 12.5 percent in August, a new 17-year high, the government said.The National Statistics Office also revised upward the inflation rate in July to 12.3 percent from 12.2 percent.This brought the average inflation rate for the eight months to August to 8.8 percent, way above the central bank's target range of between 3.0 and 5.0 percent.AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE
