Leading greenhouse gas emitters

It is hardly fair just to consider gross percentages. This does not take into consideration population. If this were factored in then China would be relatively lower and countries such as Canada and Australia would be higher since their population is relatively low.

In 2004, more than 27 billion tons of carbon dioxide was emitted into
the atmosphere.

Japan 5%

Germany 3%
Canada 2%
United Kingdom 2%
South Korea 2%
Italy 2%
South Africa 2%
France 2%
Mexico 1%
Brazil 1%
Australia 1%
